| Lost in the Web: The Teachings of Jon |
| Editor's note: This article originally appeared in the July 2006 edition of the Capital City Free Press. Joseph O. Patton Editor and Publisher Capital City Free Press Recently propelled to national fame in the film “The Teachings of Jon,“ airing on public television, the web site of the same name allows visitors to meet a very remarkable man. TeachingsOfJon.com showcases the life of Jon, who was born with Down Syndrome. The site allows visitors to learn about his unique life and his family. Visitors to the site may also learn the modified system of sign language Jon uses to communicate. He has been mute his entire life. In the section “Learn from Jon,” visitors may read personal stories from his family detailing how he has taught them life lessons and enriched their lives. In addition to links offering information on Down Syndrome, visitors may look up air times for the film and may purchase their own copy through the site from Waking Heart Films. TeachingsOfJon.com is educational and inspiring and is worth a visit by everyone using the internet. |
