| As Scott notes of his opus, "Gingerbread House" veers a little more back toward an upbeat brand of pop. He says "All Over Now" held a tinge of bitterness but his latest work offers selections that are a bit more "lighthearted and fun." Scott's perhaps happier demeanor is readily apparent. One noble feature of Scott's work is that he appears to be always evolving, not content to merely saunter through the creative and peforming aspects of his path. He mentions his work with Chris Trevett, who has contributed to superstar acts like Britney Spears, and soaking up some vocal fine-tuning at a noted studio in Atlanta, Ga. to improve the final product. Scott's lyrics are simple but straightforward, bridging a host of emotions from the lost love of "Down Again" to the passion and excitement of "Holding On" and the wit of "Garbage Under Your Sink." Patton Editor and Publisher Capital City Free Press Scarcely more than a year since Cullman, Ala. native Shane Scott pierced the scene with his debut solo release "All Over Now," he's back with a very laudable sophomore effort consisting of his trademark, self-branded "sophisticated pop." "Gingerbread House," available now, marks a smooth progression from "All Over Now." In a recent interview with the Free Press, Scott mentioned that he's been honing his production magic in the studio for the past year, and his persistence with the gadgets is quite noticeable. Scott handles all of the production duties himself, another keen spoke in his wheel of diverse talent and a practice which enables him to preserve the exact intent of his songs. The unreleased track "Deep Inside of Me" as well as "Gingerbread House" track "Heaven in You" both recently made heavy waves in VH-1's Song of the Year Songwriting Contest, but Scott seemingly shrugs off the accolades in a show of modesty. Instead, he says that he's focused on the songwriting and production process: "...The most important ingredient is patience - patience to keep doing it over and over until you get it just right." |
