The phrase "stars fell on Alabama" has trickled from many lips within this state. And sometimes we can even claim that stars, in fact, rise from here. Raised in a rual area of Alabama, Shane Scott has had a nearly lifelong affair with music, dating back to age seven when he ravaged his brother's drum sticks on ice buckets and tin pans, a primitive percussion set that played a part in this artist's burgeoning romance with music. Scott later learned the guitar, bass, piano and even the mandolin as his spring of talent began to run over. This summer, Scott released his first CD, "All Over Now," on which he plays all the instruments, handles all the vocals and juggles the mixing and production work. But the one-man show doesn't end there. "All Over Now" was released on his own label, Playroom Records, based in Cullman. Shane Scott's work can best be described as multi-faceted, heartfelt pop. The upbeat melodies and overall sound of "All Over Now" is catchy, danceable and fun but not dumbed down as many mainstream pop acts of today seem to be. The artist, refreshingly, does not skimp on true emotion in his lyrical content and singing. Scott's admirable and rare ability to create songs from scratch, provide all of the instrumental and vocal work and to produce is a clear testament to his broad scope of talent. The CD contains 10 solid tracks, ranging from the foot-tapping, acoustic guitar-laced title track, "All Over Now" and the sublimely catchy "Mr. Right" to the deeper, more introspective |
